Announcement: Check out the IVTSF's open volunteer positions!
Every multiple pregnancy story is unique. Some families experience the loss of one baby during pregnancy while continuing to carry another. Others experience the loss of a twin, triplet, or higher-order multiple during the neonatal period or later in life. For many families, these experiences exist in the space between grief and continued caregiving — mourning one baby while nurturing another.
This page exists to honor those experiences.
Families, survivors, parents, siblings, and loved ones can share stories of love, loss, identity, resilience, remembrance, and recognition. These stories help others feel less alone while also increasing awareness among healthcare professionals, educators, researchers, and the broader community about the lifelong impact of multiple loss.
Multiple loss is often invisible within healthcare systems, schools, and society. Some losses occur early in pregnancy and may never be formally acknowledged. Others happen in neonatal settings where families are simultaneously navigating grief and survival.
Sharing stories can:
Validate lived experiences
Help families feel seen and understood
Reduce isolation and stigma
Support surviving multiples and siblings in identity development
Improve professional understanding and compassionate care
Preserve memories and honor each baby’s place within a family
