Joint Statement on Prenatal Multiple Loss and Recognition of Surviving Multiples
Published as an open-access preprint on Zenodo and currently under journal submission.
The IVTSF has released a new guidance brief, Supporting Children Born After the Loss of a Twin or Co-Multiple, developed in collaboration with international experts in education and healthcare. The resource provides practical recommendations for educators, school leaders, counselors, and support staff on identity development, inclusive classroom practices, family engagement, and supporting students affected by multiple loss.
The IVTSF contributed to major updates in SNOMED CT, including a new formal definition of Vanishing Twin Syndrome and the addition of a concept to better document ongoing pregnancies following twin loss. These updates will be released internationally in June 2026 and improve how VTS is recognized in clinical care and research.
